Play Overview
Lost Ark (2019) is an online role-play fighting game set in the mystical realm of Akrasia. You work alone or in teams to fight enemies, complete dungeons and upgrade your characters. It combines Lord of the Rings (and Indiana Jones) fantasy adventures with hero-led battles and a vast array or gear and upgrades to collect. There are other similar games, but this stands out for requiring a combination of skill, practice, persistence and collaboration with other players.
You play the long-awaited and prophesied chosen one, hero of Akrasia, on a quest to find the Ark, which can seal away the demonic darkness. You learn of long-ago wars between the divine and demon worlds, and that the Ark was split into seven pieces, by its seven ancient guardians, to protect it from the greed of man. Your quest thus becomes reuniting all seven pieces of the ark, and sealing away this new rising darkness forever, before it destroys all the world.
While the main story features lots of side quests, combat and missions, it's only after you've beaten the campaign that the game really opens up; for many the draw is these later missions that reward you with upgrades, better gear and in-game money. You can complete the story multiple times using a variety of different classes of characters to utilise a range of play styles.
Gameplay revolves around defeating enemies using the different weapons that are collected and upgraded by completing dungeons. There are daily dungeons you can complete, challenging raids where you fight off hordes of enemies, and lots of other different ways to play, meaning there is something for everyone. While most of these modes can be completed by a single player, team play can allow deep collaboration to make these challenges less overwhelming.
It's a unique and expansive game with a wide array of content on offer; difficult boss battles and dungeons, an engaging story, side quests and collaborative and competitive multiplayer modes, that make it a novel and hugely popular offering.
