Play Overview
Minabo - A Walk Through Life (2023) is an adventure game about the path of life. As you move along the road your turnip character is born, grows and thrives (or not) in all manner of family and social relationships.
The game begins with you sprouting, then time passes with each step you take. As your character grows you need to manage Physical Contact, Intimacy and Belonging with other characters you travel with and meet. You soon surround yourself with other turnips to forge your personality.
To grow your social circle you need to decide how to foster harmony. Not everyone can meet your needs when you want them to as they have a sweet of needs of their own. Or perhaps you'll decide to adopt some pets. Or maybe find a partner and start a family. You don't have to get your needs met by being nice, but coercion and anger have their consequences.
As you progress you can take on specific missions. These can be to create a big family, live to at least 60 or have three best friends. Some are harder and include making no friends but instead finding pets. If you complete five of these there's a freeplay mode that becomes available.
The result is a game that uncovers the challenges of living and thriving in social relationships. However you play you are soon pulled in all sorts of directions with commitments to friends, siblings and aging parents. Try out different approaches and see how life can turn out.
