Play OverviewPlay Overview

Minabo - A Walk Through Life (2023) is an adventure game about the path of life. As you move along the road your turnip character is born, grows and thrives (or not) in all manner of family and social relationships.

The game begins with you sprouting, then time passes with each step you take. As your character grows you need to manage Physical Contact, Intimacy and Belonging with other characters you travel with and meet. You soon surround yourself with other turnips to forge your personality.

To grow your social circle you need to decide how to foster harmony. Not everyone can meet your needs when you want them to as they have a sweet of needs of their own. Or perhaps you'll decide to adopt some pets. Or maybe find a partner and start a family. You don't have to get your needs met by being nice, but coercion and anger have their consequences.

As you progress you can take on specific missions. These can be to create a big family, live to at least 60 or have three best friends. Some are harder and include making no friends but instead finding pets. If you complete five of these there's a freeplay mode that becomes available.

The result is a game that uncovers the challenges of living and thriving in social relationships. However you play you are soon pulled in all sorts of directions with commitments to friends, siblings and aging parents. Try out different approaches and see how life can turn out.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 3. Players may be forced to give a poisonous mushroom to another character. This does not directly or visibly harm them, but in-game text indicates that the life expectancy of the character is decreased as a result. When players react angrily to another character, their turnip may make a somewhat rude arm gesture. The gesture is very quick and non-detailed, however, and shown from a distance. Turnip characters may 'romance' other turnips. If their bond increases, they eventually reach the 'procreate' level, at which stage a baby turnip pops from the ground. However, nothing directly sexual is shown beyond kissing. When turnips die, they fall over, disappear into the ground, and are replaced by a tombstone.

In the game you do create romantic connections with other characters. There are hats you can wear to help with this, including one that allows you to romance a sibling.

Skill Level

6+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Younger players can enjoy the characters and different interactions. Played with a parent it's a good game to learn about emotions and relationships together.
