Monster Prom is a role-playing game set in a high school for monsters where you are looking for love. You make choices about the dating-focused narrative by exploring the campus and talking to different monster characters. It has some light point-and-click elements, although this is really a text adventure.

You take the role of one of four playable characters who are students at Spooky High. Each is offered different monsters they can try to date. You choose gender and pronouns. The game then creates a new story for your choices.

Play proceeds in turns where each player decides what they do over the course of six weeks leading up to prom. You can explore different locations to improve knowledge and skills that help winning your date. Your actions ultimately determine whether your love interest agrees to take them to prom or not. As you progress there are 1000's of special events, 47 endings, mini-games, and limited voice acting. The game also includes a shop where players can purchase items that can trigger new events as well as special endings.

It's a tongue in cheek story filled with pop culture references, banter-based dialogue, self-referential commentary on monster fiction, and light satirical themes.
