Play Overview
Owlboy (2016) is a running, flying and shooting adventure where you fight sky pirates in the clouds. You explore dungeons to discover secrets and treasures, shooting bad guys along the way. The twist is that you have to work together with your friends to progress since alone you have limited moves and powers.
You play by flying, spinning and rolling freely through open skies which hold monster-infested ruins. Dungeons include simple puzzles, plenty of enemies and lots of secret treasure to find. Frequent checkpoints mean you don't have to worry about dying in trickier combat sections too much.
As you progress, it becomes clear that you can't defeat many enemies by yourself. You unlock friends who you can pick up like turrets on a plane, and you learn to use their unique skills and weapons. This helps you get through fast-paced combat and chaotic boss fights that can take up most of the screen.
This results in a heartfelt adventure where the fate of the world depends on one young man and his ability to cooperate with friends.
