Play OverviewPlay Overview

Puzzmo (2023) is a newspaper-puzzle-page-style game collection where you take on daily puzzles based on logic, letters and lateral thinking. Play is different depending on which of the puzzles you attempt, but all involve clicking and typing to solve clues and move pieces. It stands out for its ambition to beat the New York Times puzzle page at its own game, offering not only a place to discover and play puzzle games but a community in its own right.

Each day you open the page on a browser, smartphone or tablet to see the current set of puzzles. Whether you just dip into one challenge or work through all of them, you see your progress memorialised on the home page much like a pen or pencil filling out a newspaper page puzzles.

The collection of puzzles available on the page is intended to grow over time. It launches with three existing games Really Bad Chess, TypeShift, and SpellTower, as well as two new ones. Flipart challenges you to neatly fit shapes into a rectangular frame. Wordbind is an anagram challenge. Cross|Word is a different take on the classic word puzzle, that focuses on communicating hints and logic to newcomers.

The result is a modern take on the newspaper puzzle page. It not only offers new and novel word/logic puzzles but also creates a sense of community and competition to check in with each day.

Our examiner, Jo Robertson, first checked Puzzmo 6 months ago. It was re-examined by Ellen Robertson and updated 10 weeks ago.
