Play Overview
Research and Destroy (2022) is an action game that combines turn-based strategy with real-time, fast-paced shooting as you play a trio of scientists saving humanity from a zombie apocalypse. Each turn, you have 8 seconds to do as much damage to the hordes of zombies and to cleverly position your characters, before the zombies strike back, in a unique system of play that splits the focus between strategy and combat.
In a future where humanity has been desecrated by hordes of zombies, you take control of a ragtag team of three scientists: Marie, Larry and Gary. They must research new weapons and repel the undead invasion in a desperate bid to save the final strands of humankind.
The gameplay is split into turns, but unlike other games, where each turn you can perform a set number of attacks/actions, here you have 8 seconds with each scientist to do with as you please; move them away from harm's way, shoot zombies in real-time, either from a 1st or 3rd person perspective using a variety of upgradeable weapons, or a combination of both. This freedom allows you to craft clever strategies to overcome even the most challenging hurdles. After your go, the zombies will move to attack you and deal damage to one or multiple of your scientists.
It's an unusual game that combines classic shooting and turn-based gameplay mechanics to create a wholly unique and engaging gameplay experience, which is enhanced by comic book-style graphics and an engaging story.
