Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure is an action-adventure themed around the characters and world of Pixar films. It originally stood out for the Kinect camera controls that let you play by moving your body, with the gamepad option it's a lovely first step into gaming however you control it.

You start by creating your boy or girl character, before heading into the Pixar park. You then arrive at the park on the school bus ready for your field trip. Here you can move around to find the different challenges and talk to characters to take on their levels. This is not like Disneyland Adventures in that the park itself is small and mainly serves as a way to select which film you want to play.

Because the game was originally designed for the Kinect camera controller, things are really simple to control with the gamepad. You pick a Pixar film and set off on a series of challenges. These are all about forward motion, but introduce different elements like jumping from platform to platform, racing, and battling or throwing things at big bosses.

As you progress through each of these mini-games you unlock new levels with more substantial challenges. Still, things remain on the easy end of the spectrum. This makes it a great game for really young players whether or not you are using the Kinect controller.

The result is a great game for youngsters to start on, particularly if they enjoy Pixar films. The simple controls, bright visuals and familiar characters make it a lot of fun.
