Play Overview
Seasons After Fall (2016) is a running and jumping game where you traverse through forests in search of the lost spirits of the four seasons. As you progress, you unlock the ability to change the season at will, altering the dynamic of the level and letting you reach areas you otherwise couldn't, be it by freezing lakes or growing vines.
You play a wild fox and must find a way through the environmental puzzles. In one case, you need to change the season to winter, freezing a lake, allowing you to walk over it. In another, switching to autumn will cause stronger winds, which lift up platforms for you to traverse. The game contains no enemies, instead letting the main focus be on the physical progression through the game. Neither does it get harder as you progress, widening the appeal to younger and less experienced players.
It has a unique hand-painted aesthetic and a string quartet soundtrack which serves as a backdrop to, and reinforces, the prevalent themes of nature and natural beauty, as well as the acceptance of change and learning to adapt to new environments.
