You play a monk who must conquer small 5 x 5 dungeons. You can exit one side of the screen to reappear at the other, like in Pac-Man. Monsters appear to stop your progress and will take energy if they hit you. You need to kill the Chicken monster to get the key to the next level.
As you progress you pick up scrolls that change the rules of the game. Each contains statements like "If monk kills an enemy, he gets healed" or "If monk is injured, monk is injured". These pairs of statements change the game substantially. They stay with you, floor to floor and make progress easier or harder. Some scrolls you can trigger yourself as long as a target is available.
What starts as a simple challenge of navigating each maze soon descends into ever more complex web of rules and interactions. It's like Damian Sommer’s Chesh or Michael Brough’s Corrypt where a simple idea is made the focus of the game with entertaining results.

10+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Although very young players may need more trial and error to work out how to solve some levels, there is no barrier to this approach. Generally the game needs logical thinking and resilience to continue trying on a level that seems impossible.
