Review

Six Cats Under (2020) is a cute point-and-click puzzle where you are a deceased cat-lady trying to rescue your herd of cats by directing them with your poltergeist powers. The challenge is that you can only move very small things, so have to get the cats attention to progress towards freeing them from their captivity in your flat.

Play involves directing your spirit around your home to discover what you can interact with. Most things are too heavy to move so you need to cause chain reactions to get your cat's attention. As you explore there are descriptions of all the different objects (and felines) that tell the story of your life before you passed away.

You slowly discover ways to interact with your pets and work towards getting the door open. It's quite tricky at times but the solutions are always fair and satisfying. There's a real joy in the detail of this game, not only your home and what's in it, but the intricate web of interactions you work through until you are ready to finally depart.
