Play Overview
Sonority (2022) is a fantasy adventure where you progress by solving musical puzzles. You help Esther explore a lost world to collect musical notes and playing arrangements next to blocks to unlock the way forward. What's clever is the connection between the environment and the notes you play, which means you don't need musical ability but logic to create the right sequence to progress.
Play involves using your pan flute to trigger changes in the isometric world you are exploring. This unblocks your path and leads you on a journey to rediscover lost songs and mossy works of art.
Although the puzzles do get challenging after a while this is a great game for a younger audience. You are led through things by the singing stones and a talking raccoon. The further you get, the trickier the game becomes. Collect new notes and instruments to overcome even the most difficult puzzles of the preceptors.
The result is a touching story about Esther and the characters you meet. It's all told with the musical puzzles and the lovingly designed game world with varied locations.
