Star Wars: Republic Commando (2005) is a shooting game set in the Star Wars universe, where you complete missions as part of an elite squad of Clones. Still regarded as one of the best Star Wars games over 16 years after its initial release, its fast-paced action and deep array of weapons make it a fresh challenge for fans of the sci-fi genre and shooting games.
Additionally, its unique place among Star Wars games, eschewing traditional tropes such as lightsabers and space battles for more realistic and militaristic war scenarios, make it stand out from the crowd. A remastered version, sporting updated visuals and controls, launched for the Switch and Playstation on the 6th of April 2021.
You play RC-1138, "Boss", the leader of Delta Squad, an elite squad of genetically altered clone troopers, during the height of the Clone Wars (between Star Wars: Episode II and Episode III). You travel from planet to planet, on various missions, assassinations and investigations.
You shoot mechanical enemies using the wide array of weapons at your disposal, and direct your computer-controlled team members to perform various tasks, from "slicing" (the Star Wars version of hacking) to taking up a suitable sniping position.
The game's varied environments mean your tactics must respond. For example, while in one place you may need a patient approach, another location may require a more direct attack. The rest of your team, RC-1162 (Scorcher), 1140 (Fixer) and 1107 (Sev) all have unique specialities that you'll need to use to succeed, and some missions will require you to split up.

This is an Action and Shooting game with Adventure, Fighting and Role-Play elements. This is a single-player game. While there used to be a multiplayer experience offered via servers in the game, these have since shut down, and the remaster is a single-player only experience. That said, there are still private servers that offer multiplayer on PC, although these are not supported officially.

8+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. You need to have quick reactions and good aim to shoot enemies, and also utilise your team members to the best effect. While lowering the difficulty doesn't decrease the need for aiming, it does allow you to miss more shots due to the decreased enemy health and damage.
