As you gain more materials you can settle on an island and build a shelter and raft to explore the ocean. You harvest resources and combine them to invent equipment. These resources and your ability to carry them are very limited, so need to be managed and prioritized.
You also need to look after your general health, hunger, thirst, and sleep. The different elements and weather you face will affect this. Thirst is particularly important, and hydration sources are scarce so you need to learn the skills to craft water collectors. Hunger is also important, so you must catch fish and hunt.
Rated for younger players in the US. ESRB TEEN for Blood, Crude Humor, Mild Violence.
12+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. This is a tough survival game. You need to be able to collect and plan your use of resources and defend yourself from creatures and other players (if playing online).
