Sunday Gold (2022) is a point-and-click adventure game set in a grim future London. You play three criminals out to uncover the dark secrets of an evil corporation and billionaire. It's an unusual mix of collecting items to solve puzzles and strategic turn-based combat wrapped up in a comic book presentation.

You explore a dark dilapidated version of London. Unemployment and homelessness are soaring as corporations use the bleak economic situation to blur what people will and won't do for money. You control three criminals (Frank, Sally, and Gavin) working to uncover where things have gone too far.

Play combines two distinct genres. Explore rooms, collect items and solve a combination of observation, deduction, and inventory puzzles. But also, take on enemies in stylised battles where each character has unique strengths and weaknesses. In both areas, you need to look after your characters as well as use them to win. Disturbing and pressured situations wear down their composure and cause them to might act impulsively.

The result is a surprisingly realistic world and story. The fully voiced characters, hand-drawn environments and comic book cinematics combine to create an unusual and coherent experience.
