Play Overview
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP (2011) is an adventure game in miniature. You explore a myth-rich world and use your sword to do battle and evoke spells to solve musical puzzles. It's a world that changes with the moon as you guide your wandering warrior monk.
Play is simple and largely a point-and-click adventure. You direct your character to explore the world and interact with the bronze age mountain wilderness. There are occasional hard-hitting battles. But mainly this is a game about investigating and solving musical puzzles to help The Scythian complete her woeful errand.
Certain events and passages are only available if the real world moon is in a certain phase. You can skip this by visiting the moon grotto in the game. But this real world - virtual world aspect is an intentional part of the experience.
The game is unusual in that it doesn't hold your hand or make it obvious how to interact or progress. Exploration and experimentation is the intention here. As you go there is advice, but you need to think tangentially to solve the puzzles you find.
