Surmount

Surmount (2024) is a traversal game about jumping, swinging and climbing your way up a challenging mountain. You play by controlling your character's jumps, moves, skills and swings to get higher and higher. It's a unique mountain climbing adventure that gives players a forgiving climbing experience with a cartoonish backdrop.

You play the game by jumping off platforms, grabbing rocky outcrops and using momentum to carry you up the mountain. The aim is to get past tricky sections by extending jumps and swings to get higher up the mountain in hopes of reaching the summit. It sounds simple, but requires timed jumps and careful management of your depleting stamina that only recharges when you're stood on a platform.

As you progress you unlock cosmetic items to customise your character, like backpacks and hats. You also acquire items and upgrades that boost your climbing ability. There are many routes to choose, and true mastery of the game lies in thinking ahead about what the best path up the mountain face is.

Surmount is a laidback adventure about making fun jumps up an unforgiving mountain. You follow a whimsical storyline about reaching the summit and meeting quirky friends along the way. The result is a relaxing and entertaining story combined with challenging technical gameplay.
