Play OverviewPlay Overview

The Last Worker (2023) is a narrative adventure set at the end of capitalism. In an increasingly automated world, you play Kurt, who works in a distribution high-rise and discovers a secret floor of battery-farmed animals and meaningless products. The game stands out not only for its end-stage capitalism theme but for its hand-crafted art style and well-acted characters.

Play starts with you carrying crates around the distribution centre while being harangued by a floating robot. You soon meet an activist group wanting to disrupt the all-consuming corporation and start working with them. This takes you to explore deeper into the building

The result is a thought-provoking and comedic story with mechanics that weave into a dense and dark narrative. "They are stocking death and destruction in family packs."

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked The Last Worker 22 months ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 13 months ago.
