Play Overview
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (2023) is an online stealth action based on the film of the same name. In detailed arenas based on locations from the film, you play either the notorious Slaughter family hunting down victims, or an innocent trying to escape.
It's a game of two roles, three against four. You are either using sound and movement to track down your prey or trying to avoid making sounds to disable traps and escape. If you are caught you are attacked and killed in a variety of gruesome ways.
As you play, you learn to communicate with your teammates to avoid threats or trap and hunt down victims. Both teams require careful consideration to win. This includes using the killer characters' abilities to do things like track footprints of set traps. Victims have abilities to aid escape - like should charge or surprise attackers.
The result is a game about asymmetrical teamwork. It's a good use of the film licence, but more interestingly it's a refinement of similar games like Dead by Daylight with a team rather than an individual being the murderer.
