Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip (2024) is a bizarre action-adventure game where you must build a car capable of driving up a huge skyscraper into outer space. Play focuses on exploring the open-world city and interacting with its inhabitants to get the necessary parts to upgrade your car. It stands out not so much for the overarching space mission but for the wacky taxi-oriented escapades you have along the way.

You play Terry, a newly employed taxi driver with the singular aim of driving to space up the sky tower. To achieve this, you must explore the bizarre city of Sprankelwater, interact with civilians and complete quests to earn turbo junk and upgrade the speed of your car. You can run, swim, paraglide and drive, either in your car or steal someone else’s. Quests vary in length and nature, ranging from digging up buried treasure to learning yoga or becoming a criminal.

As you gradually upgrade the speed of your car, Terry’s archnemesis Ricky challenges you to bumper car battles which you have to win to prove yourself as the superior driver. Through exploration, you can discover shops to unlock and buy tools and accessories such as baseball bats, shades, hats or even pets.

The result is a game that embraces silliness and provides freedom to play however you want. The narrative and dialogue are funny and the level of carnage only increases as your car gets faster.
