Play OverviewPlay Overview

Treachery in Beatdown City (2020) is a fighting game with a retro pixelated art style. It combines the popular beat'em up mechanics from games like Double Dragon, where you take on enemy characters with fists, kicks and weapons, with role-play elements. Unusually, you take turns to attack or defend in fights rather than frantically mash buttons in real-time. This means you can combine attacks into combos to defeat a wide range of enemies.

In the game, you need to save US President Blake Orama who has been kidnapped. You get to choose from three fighters, each with different strengths. There is Lisa who knows boxing, Brad a fire-loving wrestler and Bruce, a karate expert. You'll be fighting anything from fascist cops to drunks, punks, ninjas, terrorists, and even cyborgs.

The game is both humorous and political, calling out racist behaviour in its cutscenes. The more political content is mixed with jokes about ninjas and turtles, ensuring the game doesn't get too subject-heavy. Currently, only one episode is available, with more expected to be released at a later date in for form of free DLC.
