Play OverviewPlay Overview

Wattam (2019) is an absurd adventure where characters are everyday objects with problems to solve and fun interactions to enjoy. You play as The Mayor and start on your own. As you complete simple tasks you populate the world with other strange characters.

Everyone you meet is a playable character. They all have their own joyful and often weird character. You need to use each of them in particular ways to solve problems. These tasks are more strange and absurd than really challenging.

It's a game that older players will enjoy for how strange it is, but younger players will be more likely to overlook the absurd nature of it all. Wattam is its own thing, something that youngsters will revel in.

It's charm and design over form or content. It's all tied together with music that changes as you interact with characters. It's part fever-dream and part children's program (think Magic Roundabout).

Our examiner, Jo Robertson, first checked Wattam 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Andy Robertson and updated 2 weeks ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 3 for occasional, very mild violence in a comical or abstract context. Players can hit a character with a rubber sword, causing it to spin, fall down and its health bar to deplete. There are some cutscenes involving an apocalyptic battle between celestial bodies, that have a darker, more sombre tone than the rest of the game.

Skill Level

3+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Younger players need to be able to cope with the emotional and strange characters. There's some light puzzle solving to reconnect the right people, trigger key events and unlock more of the world. Even if they don't understand what they are doing they can still have fun running around holding hands with the other shapes.

Wattam usually costs £15.99 to £16.99.
