Wildbus

Wildbus (2021) is a retro fighting adventure game where you brawl and jump your customisable bus through mutant monsters and bandits in search of a happier land. To play you explore the levels and take on enemies with the various bus attachments to gain the upper hand.

You roll into the world after the great war between corporations and the government. The world is now shrouded in dark clouds of despair as mutant monsters and bandits control the population. As the driver of the bus, you represent the last hope of finding Promised Land.

Although at heart a brawling game, you need to explore the open world and talk to the people you meet to discover what's going on and how to help. Although quite a lot to get your head around to start with, it's not as complex as it seems and things soon start falling into place.

As you progress you can take on side quests for rewards. This enables you to customise the bus with engines and weapons - giant punch glove, mega drill, megaphone cannon or even dragons. You can also take on passengers with special abilities - like being able to slow down time.

The result is a quirky and welcoming game. It needs some patience to get to grips with getting around the bizarre world, but when it clicks it offers a unique combination of exploration, conversation and brawling.
