Play Overview
Wildflower From The Embers is a narrative role-play game about a young witch and her life in a new town. Drawing on play developed in Tenderfoot Tactics, you talk to locals, solve problems, fight demons and witch hunters and commune with the forest spirits, forage, garden, cook, and craft.
Play involves exploring your village before venturing out into the wilds to find flowers, berries and mushrooms to make different recipes. You can bring wild and rare seeds back to your garden to then grow them there. As you do, you encounter various enemies and take them on in turn-based combat. Some enemies may be pacified with simple gifts. Some may be frightened off or lulled to sleep. Sometimes you must show force or flee. Find creative solutions to get what you need and keep yourself safe.
As you progress this leads to foraging for ingredients to make pottages, teas and elixirs. These can be used for personal protection or to help friends. The beekeeper's hives are swarming and black knot plagues Freyvald's cherry trees. They could use a witch, but is it safe to offer help You can follow ancient recipes or get creative in the kitchen and develop new brews.
The result is a peaceful medieval adventure where you take time to build relationships, and offer small kindnesses, gifts of service, and simple conversation. You can even fall in love, but take care in who you trust. Venture deep into the woods, where none else would tread, where forgotten giants lay sleeping, where the Daybreakers hunt.
