Play Overview
Bermuda Pirates (2019) is an action game about navigating a treacherous sea. You use your finger to push your boat through the sea to the central island to collect gems. The twist is the magnetic spots in the board that sink your boat and jettison any cargo.
Play involves constructing the seaboard from tiles which means it's different each time you play. You then take turns pushing your boat with one finger on the stern. The aim is to carefully guide your boat to the central island. Once there you can collect a gem and then return home.
As you play you soon discover there are magnetic whirlpools that sink your boat. If you get too close the front of the boat pings down and projects any cargo into the sea, and ends your go. To help you learn from your mistakes you can place one of three buoys to mark the magnetic whirlpools -- or you can just be careful to remember.
You can collect treasure floating in the sea from other players' sinking. You can also use routes that pass through other players' areas, making use of their buoy markers. Get a gem of each colour back to your island to win the game.
The result is a simple yet tactical game with plenty of action. To do well you need to use memory, dexterity and observation skills. Paying attention to (and learning from) both your and other players' mistakes helps you find the perfect path to win.
