Play OverviewPlay Overview

Billy Bumbum: A Cheeky Puzzler (2023) is a puzzle game about guiding a cube (with a little human bottom on it) through a series of pathways to land bum-down on the final tile. Play involves avoiding tiles that fall away after you step on them and pushing blocks to make pathways. It stands out for the tongue-in-cheek humour and clever challenge that is about controlling your orientation as much as getting to the destination.

You play Billy, a cube with a bum. In each level, you must get to the end of the tile-based pathway with your bum facing downwards to move on. You need to carefully plot a path that rotates you to the correct orientation while ensuring you don't fall off the edge or rely on the same tile twice, as most squares fall away after being stepped on once.

As you progress, more twists are introduced, such as squares you can step on twice, blocks you push to create new paths and special tiles and teleporters that move the blocks you push. Experimenting with different strategies and possibilities soon becomes essential to progress, with a clear, pre-planned route through the level being the key to success.

The result is a game where its colourful world and silly characters belie the surprising depth and nuance of the brain-twisting levels. It challenges you to think outside the box for clever and inventive solutions to each new level and concept it introduces, making for a satisfying puzzle experience.

Skill Level

7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Despite the colourful aesthetic, many of the puzzles are very difficult and require a great deal of careful thinking, logic, and experimentation to overcome. The additional challenge of orienting your cube the right way, as well as getting it where it needs to go, stretches younger players.
