Play OverviewPlay Overview

Blackhaven is a narrative adventure where you play a college intern at Blackhaven Hall, a historic mansion burned down during the American Revolution. Play involves exploring the building and discovering a trail of secrets and misdeeds that span centuries.

The intern you play is Kendra Turner, a sophomore interning at the Blackhaven Hall Historical Society, the site of a ruined 18th century mansion, burned during a spectacular Revolutionary War battle and the home of Thomas Harwood, an American Founding Father. As you investigate the museum’s exhibits you discover the official story is untrustworthy in light of secrets you uncover.

Play involves investigating the ruins of the massive colonial home and farm, restored in a gleaming modern glass and steel reconstruction. You browse and interrogate a large gallery of historically accurate artifacts, paintings, and furniture. As you dig deeper it soon becomes your job to uncover the suppressed stories locked away, by reading letters and documents based on real surviving history, from the dawn of the United States to the present day.

Blackhaven was developed in partnership with historians and scholars including HBCU faculty and students.
