Firegirl

Firegirl (2021) is a running, jumping and hosing game set in a fantasy world of living fire monsters. You help Firegirl on her first night working in the fire brigade. Rescue survivors, extinguish fire monsters and uncover the mystery behind the fire monster attacks. Firegirl combines the fast-paced shooting of Contra with the platforming of Castlevania in a fantasy firefighting world.

Play involves navigating the world to access buildings, and enter forests and other spaces. You get around by running, jumping and using your fire hose as a jet pack. You respond to emergency calls get to the fire and then save the trapped civilians caught in each blaze. As you do this you are on the lookout for items to help uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city.

As you progress you have to douse roaring flames, chop through obstacles and extinguish pyro-monsters. You can use your hose to boost your jumps and reach high places to find all sorts of extras. It's a tough (sometimes frustrating) challenge, but for those who rise to it a lot of fun. Each new fire takes you to a procedurally generated level in dense forests, lavish hotels, high-speed trains and multi-storey apartment blocks. Between missions, you can upgrade your equipment, hire new staff and pay bills at the Firehouse.
