Play OverviewPlay Overview

Happy Salmon (2016) is a communication game where players aim to complete funny actions with each other to get rid of their cards. You turn over a card and race to find another player with the same so you can complete an action together. It's chaotic and silly but a lot of fun as players shout, fist bump, high five, swap and salmon their way to victory.

You start by sorting the deck into different coloured piles, each with 12 cards in them. Then each player takes a deck and holds them in their hand face down. The decks contain 3 sets of 4 different cards, which all represent a different action that must be completed to get rid of the card. For example, a Happy Salmon card requires players to flap their arms into each other in a fishy greeting.

When all players are standing and ready, you all go at once. To discard a card you must match the top card with the card of another player and complete the relevant action on the card. You do this by shouting the name of your card until you find a match. If you become frustrated with your card, you can swap it to the bottom and try again. The winner is the first player to discard all 12 of their cards and call out finished.

It's a funny silly mess of shouting and dance-like moves. With the right group, it's a lot of fun and has you hooked within a matter of minutes and leaves you in fits of laughter, even if you don't win.
