Play OverviewPlay Overview

Metal Gear Solid (1987) is a stealth adventure game where you play legendary hero Snake and infiltrate a Cuban military base to rescue the hostages. Play is a tense mix of stealth infiltration, and strategic decisions punctuated with outlandish and unpredictable narrative. It stands out for its immersive tactical espionage action and unpredictable narrative twists.

Metal Gear Solid is a stealth action game developed by Konami and directed by Hideo Kojima. You play former special forces operative Solid Snake and work to infiltrate nuclear facilities to stop a rogue military attack. Like the previous Metal Gear games, there's a focus on stealth. You carefully traverse the levels while evading enemies, utilising gadgets, and engaging in tactical espionage.

As you progress, you learn of a grand fantastical narrative told through long cinematic cutscenes. It's not a game concerned with reality. Playfulness is the order of the day, both in the action and the story. You face not only elite enemies with unique abilities (and backstories) but also the ethical implications of genetic engineering and the militarization of technology.

This results in a game that is feels both strategic and immersive. You must carefully navigate enemy encounters, use creative tactics. But there's just as much fun to be had unravelling the narrative twists and ethical dilemmas.
