Play Overview
Recore (2016) is an adventure platform game where you control Joule Adams, one of the first volunteers for the utopian colony of Far Eden, who wakes after centuries in cryo-sleep to find that nothing has gone according to plan. With her three robotic machines known as corebot companions, Joule explores Far Eden to uncover the secrets behind the failed mission and collect resources to survive.
The novelty, apart from some high-quality cinematic storytelling, is Joule's colour-coded weapon. You need to use the right colour to attack the right enemy along with some other puzzle-solving elements. As you find blueprints you can upgrade your weapons and robots.
Although the game hasn't been a huge hit, for those who enjoy exploring and collecting it really is great fun. Other similar games are rated older than Recore, so this can be a good bridging experience. It's a classic exploration game that harks back to 10 years ago. For some, this is a negative but for the right-aged player, it's spot on.
There is a Recore Definitive Edition available that improves visuals and adds a new adventure, “Eye of Obsidian” and a new T8-NK corebot who joins Joule. If you have the original game you can download these updates for free.
