Bloodshore is a narrative game that uses video footage of real actors to invite you to enter an extreme game show where contestants compete to be the last one alive on a desert island. To play you make choices for your character that affect your alliances with other contestants and resources. Seeing how your decisions affect the outcome and discovering all the different endings makes for a unique game.

Our accessibility examiner, Ben Kendall, first checked Bloodshore accessibility 20 months ago.

NotesAccessibility Notes

The only player input required is selecting what choice you want to make at the end of each scene. There are no right or wrong choices, with each simply leading to a different ending, so there is no fail state in the game. Some of the text, including these choices and the subtitles, are fairly small, but are in high contrast.

At the start of the game, there is an introductory video which contains bright flashes. Flashes also occur throughout the rest of the game. Because it is filmed with real cameras, there is depth-of-field and also motion blur throughout, as well as screen shake effects. In addition, although there are subtitles, these do not cover noises as well, some of which are essential to play, so sound is necessary.
