Play OverviewPlay Overview

Acron: Attack of the Squirrels! (2019) is a fighting game where up to eight squirrel players try and steal acorns from a player controlling a giant tree. You can play as the tree in VR, as the other players use their mobile devices to coordinate attacks.

Beyond the asymmetrical play, it's novel because the squirrel players have full control of their furry characters. Having chosen one of the four classes of squirrels you need to work together to steal the acorns and take advantage of your particular traits and abilities. If you collaborate effectively you can even combine your abilities for greater advantage.

The tree player has the VR headset on and must keep watch for the attackers. They can use various projectiles to foil the squirrels. Boulders can be tossed onto the battlefield and explode on impact with one another. Again strategy is required here, and savvy tree players can effectively booby-trap choke points.

The result is a surprisingly deep team challenge where coordination and planning are key to doing well. It's a game that anyone can have fun with. For families, whether in the same place or online, it's a great way to play together.
