Big Walk is a traversal game where you head into a wide-open world with online friends. You decide where to go together by following your nose while taking on challenges, puzzles and making discoveries. It stands out for its focus on the journey and the conversation as much as the adventure itself.
The aim is simply to hang out and get lost with close friends while you explore the big world. Alongside the outback setting and conversational interactions, you need to work together to progress and get where you need to go. Sit and watch the sunset, or steal your friend’s binoculars and kick them into the ocean. Spending time with friends is the best part of a big walk.
As you progress you discover all manner of ways to stay in touch with each other. There are times when you can't talk, so you have to invent ways of staying in touch using the tools and toys you find. Pointing the direction or using flares to assemble are all part of the fun of keeping the group together.
The result is a walking simulator game in the fullest meaning of that genre. It simulates all that can happen when you step out your door and go on a walk. Much more than a solitary one foot in front of the other experience, it's a game about getting lost with other people and finding new ways to be together with them.
