Play Overview
Brotato (2023) is a shooting game where you play a potato crashlanded on an alien planet. Play involves picking the right auto-firing weapons to disperse the onslaught of enemies. It takes the Vampire Survivor survival challenge in a fun silly direction, while also adding multiple weapons and silly items.
Brotato stands out from similar twin-stick survival games because of the huge amount of options available to build your character. Like those other games, you control the movement with one stick and the aiming with the other. But because you pick six weapons for each run, the combination of firepower and abilities is really important to get right. Or you can sacrifice your weapon slots with two identical weapons that are then combined for a level boost.
As you progress you discover how the different weapons upgrade during a run. This doesn't just make them more powerful but also affects their bonus abilities too. For example, an upgrade may add extra fire damage, additional luck, more experience or even additional turrets.
The result is a shooting game that is as much about your upgrade and equipment decisions as it is about aiming and moving.
