Play Overview
Whilst playing you get flashbacks to the Family's past, building narrative and background to what happened as you play on. There is the option for co-op play allowing a second player to join as one of the seven family members. The game includes a variety of biomes with new enemies as you discover the dungeons.
The style of the game is rogue-like, which means you are expected to die, and then start again with more experience and some of the enhancements you earned. Although unlike other dungeon rogue-like games Children of Morta is less punishing. This, along with its simpler combat and strong narrative, makes it good to play together in families.
There's a real focus on the family line. Not only do you discover the history of the Bergson family but you use Uncle Ben and Grandma Margaret's ancient knowledge to upgrade the family’s gear and boost main attributes. You have to learn how to play about the different family members to progress.
