Video Game Chroma Squad Review
Chroma Squad (2015) is a strategy game themed around the The Power Rangers TV show. Rather than the heroes, you play the stunt actors who quit the show to start their own Power Rangers-inspired series. Rather than kill enemies in the turn based encounters, your aim is to create an exciting TV show. It cleverly draws on this TV show aesthetic requiring you to use The Power Rangers abilities and team work in imaginative and entertaining ways.

Our examiner, Thom Robertson, first checked Chroma Squad 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 7 months ago.

Rather than kill enemies in the turn based encounters, your aim is to create an exciting TV show. Unlike other strategy games you aren't building troops to fight in a war. Rather, you assign and train actors to fight in your own TV Show. To get started you establish a studio then assign actors, who each have special traits that relate to their colour-coded roles.

As you progress you take on different episodes that require battles with groups of villains, sometimes followed by a giant enlarged monsters. How well your actor team does in the episode results in a final rating that affects your fanbase and revenue to improve the studio and upgrade equipment. How you perform in each episode will determine the direction of the narrative.

As in the Power Rangers show, the characters can gain the ability to transform and recover health. You need to plan attacks as a team to help each other during battle. This enables you to reach further and deal harder attacks. If you combine powers you can increases ratings by destroying the monster of the week.
