Play Overview
Escape Simulator (2021) is a puzzle game where you try and escape a series of rooms. Like a real escape room, you look in drawers, read books, and solve riddles to provide the tools you need to escape. It stands out for the quality of the environments and head scratching conundrums that are complemented by community-made levels that mean there's always a new puzzle to solve.
The twenty official rooms are split into four themes, each providing different aesthetics and tools appropriate to the theme: Labyrinth of Egypt, Adrift in Space, Edgewood Mansion and Omega Corporation. In each, you examine and interact with items to help you solve puzzles, like finding the password to a keypad scrawled somewhere and unlock the way out. When playing with other people, you work together to find the solution, and each player can see what items the others have in their inventory by looking at the objects on their belts. You can turn on an optional timer for each room, and get an achievement if you beat it in time.
Along with these twenty levels, you can create your own with the comprehensive level editor that includes hundreds of pre-made items and decorations you can place around and hide clues on. You can then upload these levels for anyone to play should they choose to.
The result is a game that forces you to explore every nook and cranny of each room in the hunt for clues, with the addition of multiplayer allowing for a deeply collaborative and puzzling yet still lighthearted and fun experience.
