Play OverviewPlay Overview

Garten of Baban is a horror adventure where you explore Banban's Kindergarten to discover the truth behind the horrific goings-on. Play involves solving puzzles and collecting items to progress deeper into the halls of the building. It stands out for using Sesame Street-style characters in a creepy way with jump scares and an ever-evolving story.

The game is set in the apparently idyllic world of Banban’s Kindergarten, where parents happily leave their children to play and learn. The children love playing with the establishment's mascots and characters, until on a seemingly normal day, everybody suddenly vanishes. Your task is to explore the Kindergarten to find out what happened.

Play involves navigating the building on foot whilst using your drone to see what is up ahead in the other rooms. As you progress you need to find key cards, switches and other items to solve puzzles and open new areas. Missions often involve collecting hidden items to claim rewards that also help you move on.

The result is a game that focuses as much on observation and comprehension as it does on horror. The attraction here is the layered narrative that builds from one game to the next. Getting to know this meta-narrative and how the characters fit into this story keeps players coming back for each new update that takes them into ever deeper and darker recesses of the Kindergarten.

Age RatingsAge Ratings

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for Horror and Moderate Violence.

Because the game is offered as a series of different releases each one is rated separately. The later releases have been rated older on app stores.

The game is designed to be unsettling with classic horror jump scares, loud noises and flashes. You also find some weird messages and notes from kids in the kindergarten hiding in cupboards having been abandoned by the staff. In one scene a note from a monster suggests he wants to eat your pancreas.

A lot of the discussion about how graphic or scary the game is comes from YouTubers and streamers acting more scared than the game warrants. Generally, this is less scary than other Mascot Horror games like Poppy Playtime of Five Nights at Freddie's.
This game includes adverts on some platforms that are watched to unlock additional content. Note that these adverts are not covered by the age rating and may include older-rated content.

Skill Level

7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. You need to be able to get around the different areas quickly, sometimes running from enemies. You also need some good thinking and problem solving skills.
