Gunman Clive is a platform game where you traverse through a hand-drawn western landscape, negotiating moving platforms, traps and enemies. Shooting is a major part of the game, and the player can pick up specialized weapons such as a spread shot, explosive bullets, and a laser gun.

In Gunman Clive, you play as the title character, in a Wild West-themed world, as he tries to rescue the mayor's daughter. There are 16 levels and enemies vary in each, from bandits who carry rifles and dynamite, to animals such as pelicans and wolves; and occasional large boss characters too. The sequel, Gunman Clive 2, provides even more levels, enemies and more varied gameplay.

In addition to Clive, all the games offer additional playable characters (some unlockable) that control slightly differently and offer a different challenge to players.
