Play Overview
Kero Blaster (2014) is a running, jumping and shooting game where you play a frog working for Cat & Frog, a teleporter company. Starting with an underpowered gun, you clean the teleporters of strange black monsters.
Play develops as you work your way through a series of levels. Like classic Contra or Castlevania, the focus is on the shooting and jumping. You can lock the shooting in one direction by holding down the fire button which opens up some new ways to dispatch enemies.
As you progress you get new guns and upgrade them. You can also get more energy and energy refill vials. You can also get a jetpack that offers a double jump. You can also pick up a coat that gives you a shield.
It's a novel game that perfectly recreates the look and play style of old Commodore 64, Spectrum and Atari games. It follows through on this style with every element of the game. To this formula, it adds a modern twist with increased difficulty, hidden items and power-ups.
