Play Overview
House Flipper (2018) is a simulation game where you renovate old broken houses to make money. It's a blend of money management, detailed interior design and repair right down to the electric circuitry. It fosters a sense of creativity and imagination in how you fix your house within budget.
You play a solo renovator, and start off with a small amount of money and must buy, clean and fix up an old damaged house before redecorating to a potential buyer's style, then selling it and the old fixtures for a profit. With this money, you can then buy bigger houses and afford a wider array of furniture and decorations to furnish them with. Throughout, you need to keep in mind the budget and decide whether you risk spending more for a greater return, or save money but ask for a lower sale price in a delicate balance of spending and income.
You use a variety of tools (hammer, cloth and a machine that can instantly sell items) to renew, reshape and reinvent the myriad spaces you buy. You have to screw in electric fittings, knock down walls and more to maximise the value of the house before selling it. You select the items you want to put in each area from a catalogue that is filled with hundreds of unique items.
Extra pieces of content for the game, such as Garden Flipper and Cyberpunk Flipper expand this to include extra areas; Garden flipper allows you to re-imagine old outdoor spaces, for example, but they keep the classic gameplay formula unchanged.
It's a detailed game that helps to promote creativity but also encourages thoughtful consideration of budget, income and profit.
