Play Overview
It's a Wrap! (2023) is a running and jumping game set within an editable 1980s Hollywood film timeline that you can adjust to make the jumps and dashes achievable. Play is in two stages, first, you drag and drop the different actions on the timeline to set things up for the second stage where you (hopefully) run and jump to the end of the scene (without getting crushed by that giant boulder)
It's a game that's as much about sitting in the director's chair as it is good timing and platforming skills. You control a film editing suite where you can drag and drop the different things that happen (columns falling, explosions being set off) into place. Get these props, actors, and special effects lined up well and you take on what you've created as a platform game.
If you fail, you simply rewind back to the beginning of the scene and try again. Each level is part of a movie with its own genre, inspired by 80s blockbusters - fictional professors of archaeology, space wizards, and retired soldiers on the run from the law.
The result is a game that's a lot of fun to play but also teaches players about sequencing, timing and (in a small way) filmmaking. Mostly it's a really novel take on the platform game, as you are adjusting the levels as much as timing the jumps.
