Play Overview
Knight's Retreat (2020) is a chess-themed puzzle game. It's not played on a chess board, but the pieces do move as they usually do. Rather than check-mate, your aim is to get your Knights back to their home squares in each level.
You move the different pieces to press buttons and interact with the puzzle to create a path to get your Knights back to their gold squares. While this doesn't map to the real game of chess, you do learn to think in the "move shapes" of Knights, Pawns, Bishops, Castles and so on.
It's a simple game that has a steady difficulty level. Even young players will get on fine with the early stages. Throughout the game offers a peaceful and calming puzzle experience with visuals and music that underline this aesthetic.
