Lumen (2020) (lumen.) is a puzzle game about manipulating mirrors and lenses to get beams of light to reveal images telling the story of the inventor's life. It's a simple concept, but as the levels get more challenging and more obstacles appear, logic and problem-solving skills quickly become essential. The rewarding puzzles paired with the unique story make for a unique game.

You discover an old attic in the Scottish highlands that belonged to a brilliant inventor named Olivia McLumen, who hid all her secrets in special boxes. These boxes need beams of light to hit specific areas for them to reveal their secrets. You guide the beams by angling mirrors in the boxes to reflect the light beam around, avoiding obstacles, hitting lenses and stars, and revealing the photographs hidden within.

While it's a simple concept, the levels quickly get difficult with the addition of more obstacles, forcing you to think deeply and analytically about the path your beam needs to take. With over 100 levels, there's always a challenge that's suitable for players of all abilities and past gaming experiences.

The result is a tough challenge that lets you take your time to work through the puzzle at hand and features a unique narrative delivery method and an engaging story to tie it all together. Solving a challenging level after deep thought, perseverance, and experimentation is always hugely rewarding.
