Need for Speed (2019): Heat is an open-world racing game. Races during the day are legally sanctioned street competitions where you try to win cash prizes. Races at night are illegal races where you aim to build a reputation. When racing at night, you need to be aware of the police who will chase you if they spot you. With each encounter with the police, the heat gets higher and each race becomes more of a risk and that risk is rewarded.

The game also offers a variety of car customisations. Each part in your car you can be upgraded as you earn cash and reputation. Certain parts and cars can only be provided once you have a high enough reputation. This forces players to experience both types of racing to upgrade and obtain vehicles, however, the game lets you flip between these modes easily.

Need for Speed: Heat's variety in gameplay makes it a unique experience that gives you the opportunity to try many different elements of racing games in one title.

Rated PEGI 16+ for Violence. Cut scenes contain violent elements which are realistic looking. These are limited to physical fights in which there is the use of fists or delivering repeated kicks to an opponent. There is one scene in which, a man who displays injuries consistent with a beating and is restrained in a chair is to be subjected to violence, but before anything occurs the camera cuts away.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Rated for younger players in the US. Rated ESRB TEEN for Language, Mild Violence. Players can slam and crash police cruisers to avoid being arrested. A handful of cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: a police officer kicking a man in the stomach; a character punching a policeman; characters held at gunpoint. The words “sh*t” and “a*shole” are heard in the game.
