Play OverviewPlay Overview

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (2018) is a role-play game and sequel to Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, where you play a young king rebuilding his kingdom and uniting his people. You travel the world, interact with characters, and battle enemies by issuing commands and actions and dodging attacks. Although without the direct involvement of Studio Ghibli, it instead expands upon the original with a new, real-time combat system and a city-building system where you recruit new citizens and build up your capital to make it unique.

Set many years after the first game, you play Evan Tildrum, a young boy king in exile who decides to create a new kingdom and unite the nations of the world to restore peace. You set out on your adventure, recruiting people to your party and fighting enemies and monsters. As your fame and reputation grow, more and more people flock to your fledgling town, growing it into a vast city.

Play involves moving through the world and meeting characters to recruit to your team. You fight enemies in real-time combat, using your sword and issuing orders to magical creatures to deal damage, and rolling out of the way of incoming attacks. As you advance, you level up your characters and unlock new abilities and actions to help you. In addition to the combat, exploration, and puzzles, you also build your city, creating new structures and gathering citizens to keep it running.

The result is a sequel that expands upon the original by implementing a new, faster combat system and novel kingdom-building mechanics that create a unique blend of strategy and action.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for Moderate Violence, Gambling, Language and Violence. This game features moderate violence involving human-like and fantasy characters. The violence is non-realistic in nature, with bright lights and magical effects appearing when characters are hit, and numbers displaying the amount of damage inflicted. When characters are defeated, they fall to the floor and quickly vanish. There are infrequent examples of more realistic-looking violence towards fantasy characters. For example, a large rat monster is shot in its eye, resulting in the sight of blood and the monster staggering backwards. The monster survives and is later seen with a scar. The game also includes some uses of the phrase 'dammit'.

Rated for younger players in Australia. Rated Parental Guidance (PG) for Mild Violence, Mild Themes, and Scary Scenes.
