Pocket Card Jockey is a horse racing game you participate in by playing a series of Solitaire card games. You race, breed and nurture a stable of horses for a range of owners, trainers and other interesting individuals. It stands out as both a brilliant pairing of Solitaire and horse racing, one that matches surprisingly well. Pocket Card Jockey was a 3DS exclusive for many years and has recently come to iOS as Pocket Card Jockey Ride On. It offers touch controls and updates the racing segments in 3D.

Play involves picking your horse and then participating in a series of races. Your performance in each race is determined by how efficient and fast you are at solitaire. Do well and you not only win a race by gain experience, speed and skill as your horse develops.

As you progress you build a stable of horses with the aim of riding in the top flight to win first place in all 20 of the highest-ranked G1 races. Horses age and mature. This gives a limited time in their racing career but also means you can retire them to then breed new horses. You can share and exchange horses with friends and family by sending them a QR Code to access more skilled horses. This lets you breed a foal capable of dominating the leaderboards.

The result is an unusual (and slightly bizarre) game that ties your solitaire performance to different aspects of each race. Add to this the positioning tactics and timed use of your horse's enthusiasm and energy, and you have a compelling experience.
