Play Overview
Rusty's Retirement (2024) is a farming simulator you set up to run itself as it plays at the bottom of your computer screen while you do other things. Play is the usual planting of crops, watering and harvesting only here you use robots to automate your processes. It stands out for the low-input chilled farming fun that only needs half an eye on, as it runs in a window at the bottom of your screen.
It's an idle game that progresses without your input while you watch (or do other things). The fun is setting robots up to efficiently water, nurture and harvest so that when you are away it hums along on its own.
As you progress you unlock new crops like crispy carrots or tomatoes. You can also buy new robots, crops, buildings, livestock and even more land and biomes (swamp, desert or forest). It soon grows into a game much like Stardew Valley - but with a focus on automation rather than having to grind away yourself.
The result is a laid-back farming game at the bottom or side of your computer screen. Move the mouse over it and you can scroll to see more of the world. There are also hotkeys for quick actions and a Focus mode that slows things down to let you really concentrate on something else.

6+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Although younger players may need help to progress, there's no real way to lose. Also, because the farm doesn't require lots of input or quick reactions even very young players can have some fun planting, watering and harvesting.
