Play Overview
Saltsea Chronicles (2023) is a point-and-click adventure where you sail the sea to rescue your ship's captain. You explore the flooded world discovering islands, meeting characters, and managing the relationships between your crew. Unlike other sailing games, here you must control your whole crew rather than a single character, resulting in an expansive adventure with endless choices.
In a future where most of the earth has been flooded, civilisation has been rebuilt on the few remaining islands - the whimsical land of Saltsea. In this world, you play a crew of sailors whose captain, Maja, has mysteriously vanished. You sail the waters of the world, searching for clues on her whereabouts and the reasons behind her sudden disappearance. As you go you can expand your crew by convincing locals to join your ship.
Play involves sailing from island to island, choosing which crew members to send ashore, and then talking to the locals to uncover the information you need. On board the ship, you develop bonds between the different crewmates, quell rivalries and tensions, and form deep friendships. Additionally, you solve puzzles by gathering clues both from dialogue and the environment. Depending on what you do, the story can turn out totally different.
The result is a unique game where your actions and decisions mould the story. It's not a story about a hero, but a tale about a community learning to navigate the world together. Seeing the consequences of your actions unfold, both good and bad, makes for an engaging and deeply personal experience.
