Play Overview
Sigi (2017) is a retro-styled running, jumping and attacking game. You are on a Knight’s quest to locate Melusina, his true love, whom he inadvertently scared away with a bout of bad gas. Like games from the 80s, you have to work through levels to find keys, kill enemies and keep your reactions sharp.
Play discards the modern trend for serious themes or nuanced gameplay. Instead, this is a straightforward challenge that focuses on the simple pleasures of the arcades. There are a limited number of stages that can be played repeatedly to get better scores and faster times.
As you progress, you find secret caverns full of loot, long forgotten artefacts, coins and letters. You take on unforgiving boss battles with various minions aiming to punish you for making light of Sigi’s digestive woes.
The result is a silly, yet deeply fun, medieval-era romp.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Sigi 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 5 weeks ago.
